How working days are counted

A working day is any calendar day that is neither a weekend day nor a public holiday. The weekend is Saturday and Sunday in most countries, Friday and Saturday in much of the Middle East, and Friday alone in Iran. A holiday that falls on a weekend does not reduce the count unless the country grants a substitute day, in which case the substitute is listed as observed. Regional holidays are not included in the national count. Full methodology.
